Anatomy of Vinyasa

You might do (what feels like) 100 chaturangas in a typical vinyasa flow class—so let’s make sure you’re doing them well. Sometimes called the “shoulder shredder,” chaturanga is one of the most commonly repeated (and misunderstood) poses in modern yoga. In this workshop, we’ll break down the full vinyasa sequence—plank, chaturanga, upward-facing dog, and downward-facing dog.

We’ll dive into the shoulder complex—because yes, it is complex!—to better understand how this intricate joint functions and how to support it in dynamic transitions. And we’ll work from the ground up, starting with the foundation: the hands. How you place and engage your hands sets the tone for the entire pose. Learn how to bear weight skillfully through your hands and shoulders, so each vinyasa feels more supported, integrated, and sustainable.
